Beginners Course with Wiebke & Ruby

In this course, Wiebke & Ruby will walk you through the basic and most common postures in a yoga class. Each of the modules break down one or two asanas (yoga poses). The way we designed the course is that you can sit down, listen and relax first and then you’ll be invited to practice what you just learned with us together. Setting basic foundational yogic principles and movement with the breath offers you a solid foundation for building your yoga practice. Getting you ready and confident for your in studio practice.

Module 1

Introduction to Yoga

A quick Introduction to the Yoga Beginner Series with an overview of what yoga is, where it originates from, and how it works to balance the nervous system and awaken you to deeper levels of yourself. Wiebke and Ruby both share their view and personal experience of how yoga has helped them to change their lifes.

Module 2

Beginning with Breathing

Ease into your practice by focussing your awareness on your body and breath, to come to a place of stillness and ease. Ruby & Wiebke are breaking down different types of yogic breathing techniques, including ujai breath, belly breathing, counting the breath and movement with breath.

Module 3

Asana: Introduction to Downward Facing Dog and Childspose

In this class we learn the foundations and alignments of basic postures starting with adho mukha svanasana (downward facing dog) and balasana (childspose). Settng the foundational yogi principles and movement with the ujai breah offers you a solid foundation for building your yoga practice.

Module 4

Asana: Introduction to Mountain Pose and Savasana

In this class, you’ll learn the foundations and alignments of Tadasana (mountain pose) and savasana (resting corpspose). Setting the foundational yogi principles and movement with the ujai breah offers you a solid foundation for building your yoga practice.

Module 5

Asana: Introduction to Warrior Poses

This practice will introduce Warriors I and II, and the transition between the two poses. You will be introduced to the health benefits as well as the most effective and sustainable way to practice the warrior poses.

Module 6

Asana: Introduction chaturanga

This class will be a helpful new addition to your yoga repertoire, as they are included in most vinyasa yoga classes. You’ll be guided through all the poses and transitions including chaturanga dandasana (low plank pose), cobra, updog and downdog.

Module 7

Asana: Introduction to Sun Salutations

This practice breaks down the basic components of surya namaskar A, a staple in many yoga classes. Find steadiness and ease as you flow through tadasana, uttanasana, downward dog, chaturanga, and cobra, practicing your ujjayi breathing all the while.

Module 8

Gentle Beginners Flow

We are putting it all together! Experience the basic structure of a Vinyasa Flow yoga class. You will move slowly and steadily through warrior poses, standing balance poses, hip openers, and gentle backbends.
